The City of Davis is being recognized this weekend, May 6-May 9th, at the American Planners Association annual conference in New York City by Solsmart, a program funded by the U.S. Department of Energy Initiative, Sunshot. The City of Davis will receive a Gold Award, for making large strides in its effort to increase solar energy usage in the city.

The COOL Davis organization, a community organization committed to implementing the City of Davis Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, has been working in conjunction with Davis since 2010 to reduce the city's carbon footprint and support the Double Up on Solar campaign--a campaign to achieve 4,500 single family household solar installations totaling 21 megawatts capacity in the City of Davis by the end of 2020. This effort has contributed greatly to the progress being recognized by Solsmart.

If you live in Davis and are interested in finding out more about how to assess your own home, what energy efficiency improvement options exist, and how to finance your solar projects, stay tuned for our next few blog posts! There are many local resources and options that we plan to cover.

Until then, enjoy all the sunshine and warm weather!
